Papa Francesco parteciperà al G7 guidato dall’Italia che si svolgerà dal 13 al 15 giugno prossimo a Borgo Egnazia, in Puglia. Lo ha confermato la Sala Stampa della Santa Sede dopo l’annuncio del presidente del consiglio italiano Giorgia Meloni che, in un video, ha specificato che il Pontefice interverrà nella sessione dedicata all’intelligenza artificiale aperta ai Paesi non membri. Si tratta della prima volta – ha specificato la premier – di un Pontefice al vertice del gruppo, a cui partecipano anche Stati Uniti, Canada, Francia, Regno Unito, Germania e Giappone.
“Ringrazio di cuore il Santo Padre per aver accettato l’invito dell’Italia. La sua presenza dà lustro alla nostra nazione e all’intero G7”, ha spiegato Meloni, sottolineando come il governo italiano intenda valorizzare il contributo dato dalla Santa Sede sul tema dell’intelligenza artificiale, in particolare con la “Rome call for Ai ethics del 2020”, promossa dalla Pontificia per la vita, in un percorso “che porta a dare applicazione concreta al concetto di algoretica, ovvero dare un’etica agli algoritmi”.
“Sono convinta – ha aggiunto – che la presenza del Papa darà un contributo decisivo alla definizione di un quadro regolatorio, etico e culturale all’intelligenza artificiale, perché su questo terreno, sul presente e sul futuro di questa tecnologia si misurerà ancora una volta la nostra capacità, la capacità della comunità internazionale di fare quello che il 2 ottobre 1979 un altro Papa, San Giovanni Paolo II, ricordava nel suo celebre discorso alle Nazioni Unite”. “L’attività politica, nazionale e internazionale viene dall’uomo, si esercita mediante l’uomo ed è per l’uomo”, ha spiegato ancora Meloni.
Quella dell’intelligenza artificiale, ha aggiunto, “sarà la più grande sfida antropologica di quest’epoca”, “una tecnologia che può generare grandi opportunità ma che porta con sé anche enormi rischi, oltre a incidere inevitabilmente sugli equilibri globali”. “Il nostro impegno”, sottolinea, “ è quello di sviluppare meccanismi di governance per garantire che l’intelligenza artificiale sia incentrata sull’uomo e controllata dall’uomo, ovvero che mantenga al centro la persona e abbia la persona come il suo ultimo fine”.

BREVE RIFLESSIONE
La Regina del Cielo ci invita a vivere sempre “nella luce e nella verità”. Solo coloro che seguono gli insegnamenti del Vangelo, e si lasciano illuminare dalla Grazia che ricevono attraverso i Sacramenti, non devono temere o aver paura, perché quando si vive con Dio, in Dio e per Dio, si vive nella Verità. Anche se conosciamo bene, che la strada che dobbiamo prendere, è quella meno “confortevole e larga”, perché solo attraverso “la via stretta” si giunge al Cielo. Teniamo sempre fisse nei nostri cuori le Parole di Gesù, che sua Madre ci ha ricordato: un albero buono non può produrre frutti cattivi o viceversa. Lasciamoci inondare dall’Amore di Gesù che può far tutto e realizzare tutto. Allontaniamoci invece con fermezza “dall’odio e dall’orgoglio”, che non sono sentimenti che provengono da Lui, ma da Satana che vuole cercare in tutti i modi di allontanarci dal Divin Maestro. La preghiera sia il nostro cibo quotidiano, in special modo in questo mese di maggio il santo rosario, che può “strappare” al Cielo tante grazie. Avanti! Gesù è con noi!

Apocalypse goes mainstream: The end of the world is becoming normal conversation

The exponential growth of artificial intelligence over the past year has sparked discussions about whether the era of human domination of our planet is drawing to a close. The most dire predictions claim that the machines will take over within five to 10 years.
Fears of AI are not the only things driving public concern about the end of the world. Climate change and pandemic diseases are also well-known threats. Reporting on these challenges and dubbing them a potential “apocalypse” has become common in the media – so common, in fact, that it might go unnoticed or may simply be written off as hyperbole.
Is the use of the word “apocalypse” in the media significant? Our common interest in how the American public understands apocalyptic threats brought us together to answer this question. One of us is a scholar of the apocalypse in the ancient world, and the other studies press coverage of contemporary concerns.
By tracing what events the media describe as “apocalyptic,” we can gain insight into our changing fears about potential catastrophes. We have found that discussions of the apocalypse unite the ancient and modern, the religious and secular, and the revelatory and the rational. They show how a term with roots in classical Greece and early Christianity helps us articulate our deepest anxieties today.
What is an apocalypse?
Humans have been fascinated by the demise of the world since ancient times. However, the word apocalypse was not intended to convey this preoccupation. In Greek, the verb “apokalyptein” originally meant simply to uncover or to reveal.
In his dialogue “Protagoras,” Plato used this term to describe how a doctor may ask a patient to uncover his body for a medical exam. He also used it metaphorically when he asked an interlocutor to reveal his thoughts.
New Testament authors used the noun “apokalypsis” to refer to the “revelation” of God’s divine plan for the world. In the original Koine Greek version, “apokalypsis” is the first word of the Book of Revelation, which describes not only the impending arrival of a painful inferno for sinners but also a second coming of Christ that will bring eternal salvation for the faithful.
The apocalypse in the contemporary world
Many American Christians today feel that the day of God’s judgment is just around the corner. In a December 2022 Pew Research Center Survey, 39% of those polled believed they were “living in the end times,” while 10% said that Jesus will “definitely” or “probably” return in their lifetime.
Yet, for some believers, the Christian apocalypse is not viewed entirely negatively. Rather, it is a moment that will elevate the righteous and cleanse the world of sinners.
Secular understandings of the word, by contrast, rarely include this redeeming element. An apocalypse is more commonly understood as a cataclysmic, catastrophic event that will irreparably alter our world for the worse. It is something to avoid, not something to await.
What we fear most, decade by decade
Political communications scholars Christopher Wlezien and Stuart Soroka demonstrate in their research that the media are likely to reflect public opinion even more than they direct it or alter it. While their study focused largely on Americans’ views of important policy decisions, their findings, they argue, apply beyond those domains.
If they are correct, we can use discussions of the apocalypse in the media over the past few decades as a barometer of prevailing public concerns.
Following this logic, we collected all articles mentioning the words “apocalypse” or “apocalyptic” from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post between Jan. 1, 1980, and Dec. 31, 2023. After filtering out articles centered on religion and entertainment, there were 9,380 articles that mentioned one or more of four prominent apocalyptic concerns: nuclear war, disease, climate change, and AI.
Through the end of the Cold War, fears of nuclear apocalypse predominated not only in the newspaper data we assembled but also in visual media such as the 1983 post-apocalyptic film “The Day After,” which was watched by as many as 100 million Americans.
By the 1990s, however, articles linking the word apocalypse to climate and disease – in roughly equal measure – had surpassed those focused on nuclear war. By the 2000s, and even more so during the 2010s, newspaper attention had turned squarely in the direction of environmental concerns.
The 2020s disrupted this pattern. COVID-19 caused a spike in articles mentioning the pandemic. There were almost three times as many stories linking disease to the apocalypse in the first four years of this decade compared to the entire 2010s.
In addition, while AI was practically absent from media coverage through 2015, recent technological breakthroughs generated more apocalypse articles touching on AI than on nuclear concerns in 2023 for the first time ever.
What should we fear most?
Do the apocalyptic fears we read about most actually pose the greatest danger to humanity? Some journalists have recently issued warnings that a nuclear war is more plausible than we realize.
That jibes with the perspective of scientists responsible for the Doomsday Clock, who track what they think of as the critical threats to human existence. They focus principally on nuclear concerns, followed by climate, biological threats, and AI.
It might appear that the use of apocalyptic language to describe these challenges represents an increasing secularization of the concept. For example, the philosopher Giorgio Agamben has argued that the media’s portrayal of COVID-19 as a potentially apocalyptic event reflects the replacement of religion by science. Similarly, the cultural historian Eva Horn has asserted that the contemporary vision of the end of the world is an apocalypse without God.
However, as the Pew poll demonstrates, apocalyptic thinking remains common among American Christians.
The key point is that both religious and secular views of the end of the world make use of the same word. The meaning of “apocalypse” has thus expanded in recent decades from an exclusively religious idea to include other, more human-driven apocalyptic scenarios, such as a “nuclear apocalypse,” a “climate apocalypse,” a “COVID-19 apocalypse,” or an “AI apocalypse.”
In short, the reporting of apocalypses in the media does indeed provide a revelation – not of how the world will end but of the ever-increasing ways in which it could end. It also reveals a paradox: that people today often envision the future most vividly when they revive and adapt an ancient word.

Molte delle creature di Dio si sono riempite d’invidia, di odio e stanno perdendo quello che hanno ricevuto dal Nostro Re e Signore Gesù Cristo, perché fossero Suoi testimoni. Stanno perdendo l’opportunità di essere degli eletti, a causa dell’orgoglio che si alimenta della loro superbia.
Quanto soffre il Cielo per questo, quanto soffre!

Quanto si compirà in questa competizione, che porterà al disastro dell’umanità!
Il dolore e il tradimento faranno sì che l’Italia sia invasa in questo periodo di guerra, quindi il dolore e il sangue si diffonderanno rapidamente in altri paesi.
Vi invito a non dimenticare quello che vi Ho annunciato e mantenete l’attenzione sui Balcani.

Fratelli:
Una volta concluso il messaggio, San Michele Arcangelo mi ha mostrato come la durezza di cuore degli uomini, giungerà a disprezzare il Cielo stesso. Contemporaneamente ho visto che la Nostra Madre Santissima era amata e venerata da molte persone, ma non abbastanza.
Nostra Madre mi ha mostrato diverse scene di conflitti in quasi tutta la terra, mentre mi diceva:
“Figlia amata, dì ai tuoi fratelli che preghino senza sosta, dì loro di credere nel Mio Divin Figlio e di adorarlo instancabilmente”.
La Madonna in seguito mi ha mostrato come l’infanzia verrà portata alla perdizione, anticipando in loro il peccato perché i bambini si perdano.
Mi ha fatto vedere degli uomini che vivevano nella lussuria e ne diventavano dipendenti a tal punto, che i loro corpi esalavano un fumo nauseabondo.
Mi ha fatto vedere il Suo Cuore illuminato e io l’ho interrogata riguardo a questa Luce così diversa da quella che avevo visto in precedenza e la Madonna mi ha spiegato:
“Figlia amata, questa luce è la luce del Mio Amore per tutta l’umanità, è la luce del Mio Appello per tutta l’umanità, che allontanerà l’oscurità dai Miei figli che lo desidereranno, anche se il libero arbitrio di molti Miei figli ha optato per l’oscurità.
Figlia amata, questo mese è un mese di prova, tanto da parte della natura che da parte dell’uomo.
I super vulcani sono una costante minaccia per tutta l’umanità, che se ne è dimenticata.
Gli elementi si scaglieranno sull’umanità, per questo vi invito a pregare e ciascuno di voi deve offrire quello che vi risulta più difficile fare, in azioni, opere e sacrifici personali, cosicché la pace si estenda ai fratelli e in questo modo venga minimizzata l’azione del demonio.
Ciascuno dei Miei figli deve offrire il sacrificio personale di quello di cui è carente:

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed that Ukraine will become a member of NATO. This announcement was made during his visit to Kyiv to discuss the ongoing conflict and future support from the alliance with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The NATO chief acknowledged delays in support that have had severe repercussions on the battlefield, emphasizing that although Ukraine has been outgunned, it is not too late for them to prevail with increased support on the way.
Stoltenberg revealed that following President Zelenskyy’s appeal at the recent NATO-Ukraine Council meeting, NATO members, including the United States, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands, have pledged to intensify their support, with the US providing a new aid package worth over $60 billion, thanks to the Democrats and their comrade Mike Johnson, along with other RINOS.
The two leaders also discussed preparations for the upcoming NATO Summit in July, where plans for a greater NATO role in coordinating security assistance and training for Ukraine will be unveiled.
“I believe we also need a major, multi-year financial commitment to sustain our support. Moscow must understand: they cannot win. And they cannot wait us out,” Stoltenberg added.
Addressing Ukraine’s potential membership, Stoltenberg stated, “Ukraine’s rightful place is in NATO. Ukraine will become a member of NATO. The work we are undertaking now puts you on an irreversible path towards NATO membership, so that when the time is right, Ukraine can become a NATO member straightaway.”

While Ukraine’s ultimate NATO membership is seen as “inevitable,” the country currently faces challenges in meeting the full set of NATO membership criteria due to the ongoing conflict with Russia. However, NATO and its members are actively engaged in discussions and negotiations to address these issues and potentially accelerate Ukraine’s path to membership. At the 2023 Vilnius summit, NATO decided that Ukraine could join the alliance without first completing a Membership Action Plan.
Earlier this month, Elon Musk cautioned that pushing for Ukraine’s NATO membership could lead the world towards a “nuclear apocalypse,” citing the 1983 film ‘The Day After’ as a grim reminder of the potential consequences.
Meanwhile, a Russian Security Council official warned last year that Ukraine’s admission into NATO could inevitably lead to a World War III scenario, echoing President Vladimir Putin’s warning against “nuclear blackmail” from the West. Just last month, on March 2, 2024, Putin warned the West during his annual “The State of Russia” speech.
Obviously, the Biden regime ignored this warning.
Putin noted that while accusing Russia of plans to attack NATO allies in Europe, Western allies were “selecting targets for striking our territory” and “talking about the possibility of sending a NATO contingent to Ukraine.”
“We remember the fate of those who sent their troop contingents to the territory of our country,” the Russian leader said in an apparent allusion to the failed invasions by Napoleon and Hitler. “Now the consequences for the potential invaders will be far more tragic.”
In a two-hour speech before an audience of lawmakers and top officials, Putin cast Western leaders as reckless and irresponsible and declared that the West should keep in mind that “we also have the weapons that can strike targets on their territory, and what they are now suggesting and scaring the world with, all that raises the real threat of a nuclear conflict that will mean the destruction of our civilization.”
